Building a Europe AI Can See

An independent research initiative by SRNA SEO, benchmarking the AI visibility of Europe’s leading organizations, country by country.

Every company on this page built its website for people. Almost none of them built it for the systems that are quietly becoming the first place people ask questions about a business. Building a Europe AI Can See is a running, country-by-country study of that gap, using one consistent methodology, so the pattern can be tracked, compared, and eventually closed, rather than argued about anecdotally.

What This Project Is

This is a long-form research initiative, not a single report. Each installment applies the same audit to a country’s most economically significant companies, spanning banking, energy, telecommunications, retail, industrial manufacturing, consumer goods, and others, and publishes the full findings as a standalone article.

Over time, the individual country reports build into something larger than any one of them: a live, comparable picture of how prepared Europe’s flagship companies actually are for a world where AI systems, not search engines or human researchers, are increasingly the first and sometimes only source a person consults.

This page is the home for that larger picture. It explains why the project exists, how it’s run, what’s been published, what’s still missing, and what the findings are starting to say about Europe as a whole. For the specific scores, grades, and company-by-company breakdowns, each country’s own report is the source of record.

Why It Matters

AI-mediated research is no longer a niche behavior. Investors ask AI assistants to summarize a company’s strategy before reading its annual report. Job seekers ask what a company actually does before opening its careers page. Business buyers ask an AI system to compare suppliers before requesting a single quote. In each case, the answer the person receives is shaped entirely by whether the company’s own website can be confidently read, dated, and trusted by the system doing the answering.

This matters at the level of an individual company, and it matters at the level of a continent. Europe’s largest employers, exporters, and taxpayers are, collectively, the infrastructure of its economy. If that infrastructure is structurally invisible to the systems now mediating a growing share of commercial and public decision-making, the cost isn’t limited to any one brand’s reputation. It’s a quiet drag on how well Europe’s own companies get to represent themselves in the conversations that increasingly decide who gets chosen, hired, invested in, and trusted.

Building a Europe AI Can See exists to make that cost visible, measurable, and specific enough to act on, one country at a time, so that closing the gap becomes a plan rather than a vague sense that “AI is changing things.”

The Methodology, in Brief

Every report in this series uses the same tool and the same framework, so results stay comparable across countries and over time. Each company’s primary website is run through the AI Visibility Inspector and evaluated against the Ivica Srncevic Framework across four structural dimensions: how clearly the page is architecturally organized for machine parsing, how substantive and retrievable its actual content is, how much structured data it carries to support confident entity identification, and whether its content-age signals are present and verifiable. Those four dimensions combine into a single AI Retrieval Index, and the audit separately flags any company whose page structure actively prevents AI systems from anchoring a clear primary topic.

The full scoring bands, grading thresholds, and warning criteria are laid out in detail in each country report and in the AI Visibility Inspector documentation itself, so they aren’t repeated here.
