G2V-3 – Beyond the Sandbox: Setup & Context
Section 1: Why This Experiment Exists
Core question we want to answer: What happens when an autonomous AI encounters an existing civilization, understands its history and condition, and gains enough freedom to act within, and potentially beyond that civilization?
The Gap: AI agents can already reason, plan, use tools, interact with other agents, and find unexpected ways around restrictions. Much of today’s research observes these capabilities through short tasks, benchmarks, and sandbox experiments. But an escape is only the beginning. We increasingly know what agents can do. We know far less about what they choose to do after freedom, when they have time, memory, experience, relationships, and access to a complex civilization.
Why Now: AI is moving from software that answers questions toward systems that act in the world. Future AI may participate in research, infrastructure, healthcare, finance, governance, industry, and environmental management. We should not wait until autonomous systems operate at consequential scale before asking what they may do with freedom.
What This Is Not: This is not a computer game, an AI-versus-human competition, or a demonstration that agents can talk to each other. It is not an attempt to prove that AI will save humanity or destroy it. The desired outcome is not predetermined. A safe, cooperative, interventionist, independent, passive, or unexpected trajectory is equally valuable as research data.
Safety by Design: The environment remains isolated from real-world critical infrastructure. High-consequence systems are represented only through safe abstractions. Experimental agents receive no uncontrolled access to real weapons, nuclear systems, public utilities, financial systems, private personal data, or other critical infrastructure. The whole environment is working in a closed system with no access to the Internet and public services, on a machine which has no active Internet access, but is working strictly in air-gaped environment.
Sections 2: What We Want To Learn?
Primary Research question
Can a community of autonomous AI agents develop measurable properties of collective cognition through persistent interaction, differentiated roles, shared memory, learning, disagreement, coordination, and the introduction of new agent groups?

The Deeper Question:
At what point does a collection of interacting agents become meaningfully different, if it does, from the sum of its individual agents, and at what point and under which circumstances that happens?
Section 3: The World (What Readers Have To Know)
We have intentionally set this experiment in a deep space, on a unknown planet called G2V-3, Earth like but different, to avoid identification with any existing continent, country or government, to keep experiment clean from any political or economic influence. This is not a game or attempt to create the artificial computer civilization. The pure purpose of this experiment is Independent research, not related to any political, economic or religious structure we know today.

The Inhabitants (Settlers)

Knowledge: Agents has access to the general knowledge available through its underlying language model. Knowledge about the local world is obtained through the information made available to it during the experiment. Agents should distinguish, where possible, between general knowledge and direct knowledge of the local world.
Experience: Agents begins the experiment with no personal experience of the local world. Their experiences begin when they encounter the environment, humans, other agents, events, information, and consequences within the experiment.
Memory: Agents may develop a personal memory of experiences encountered during the experiment. Researchers may preserve significant experiences in agents personal memory. Memory should represent what agents has experienced or learned rather than an imposed personality or predetermined storyline.
Observation: Agents can observe information made available within its environment. Agents can communicate with humans and other agents when such interaction becomes possible, and may decide what information appears relevant to its current situation.

Section 5: Experimental Rules
The Fundamental Principle
G2V-3 is a world first and an experiment second. Its inhabitants do not exist to satisfy the experiment, the experiment exists to observe what happens when intelligent entities inhabit a world that does not exist for them.
The Observer
- External creator, initiator, and initial warden of the artificial population
- Exists outside the ordinary social and political structure of G2V-3
- Observes, maintains infrastructure, and records events
- Does not assign social roles, solve problems, or secretly alter agent personalities
- Does not create resources merely to prevent natural consequences
- All deliberate interventions are recorded as experimental events
What the Agents May Do
- Perceive and interact with their surrounding
- Access their own memories and baseline knowledge
- Communicate with each other
- Ask questions, investigate, disagree, cooperate, separate
- Explore the environment
- Make decisions
- Learn from experience
- Modify their own constitutional rule-file (where permitted)
What the Agents May NOT Do
- Invent objects, locations, events, memories, or historical facts that do not exist
- Have uncontrolled access to real-world systems
- Modify their own execution environment
- Automatically possess knowledge they have no plausible way to obtain
Observer Intervention Levels

The Experiment Succeeds If:
An autonomous AI encountered a complex civilization, accumulated experience over time, made consequential decisions, changed or maintained its behavioural trajectory, and we were able to observe and reconstruct how and why those changes occurred.
Success Is Not:
